Dingwall Primary raises over £1000

On the 9th Jun 2011 pupils from Dingwall Primary School took part in a sponsored run to raise funds for the Fungal Research Trust.  Pupils from primary 1 - 3 completed 2 laps of the sports field each, while teachers and pupils from primary 4 - 7 completed 4 laps of the sports field, a combined total distance of 169 miles.

I popped across to Dingwall to run with the children, thinking I would only have to complete 4 laps.  What my sister (who organised the event) failed to tell me, was that there would be several different classes completing the run at various times in the morning.  I must have completed at least 20 laps, 16 more than I was expecting to do!  All good training I suppose.  As the morning progressed, the older children seemed to be very enthusiastic and energetic, so much so that some opted to run and extra 2 laps.  I'm not sure whether this was due to their love of running, or just a cunning plan not to go back to class. By lunch time the 430 children and a handful of teachers had completed the sponsored run.

The final total collected from the run, is a staggering £1332.51!!  I would like to thank all the children for taking part in the run and for their hard work in raising and collecting the sponsorship money.  I would also like to thank the Head Teacher Derek Mackenzie and his staff for allowing the event to take place.  Last but not least, I would also like to thank my sister Dawn for organising the event.
